Mia moved to California in 2008 to pursue her love of technical design and sewing. As a graduate of The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising she launched her career in luxury working under Carolina Herrera as a tailor, while there she perfected her love of red-carpet preparation and styling. Mia consistently works with various stylists and costumers in order to develop a client’s image, notable for awards like The Oscars, Grammys, SAG Awards and more. She then joined Louis Vuitton for the launch of the Nicolas Ghesquiere collection. Where she single handedly managed the Rodeo Dr. tailoring needs of their highly-discerning clientele.

I typically recommend beginning bridal alterations 5-6 weeks prior to the event date. If your alterations involve major design changes that require multiple fittings, then we can start as soon as you have your gown, shoes and undergarments. I do also recommend preparing to have a designated person in your wedding party or family to attend a fitting to learn how to bustle your gown.

Full traditional bridal fitting,  hemming and bustling generally start at $950-$1300. I have a bridal gown/dress minimum of $500. The cost of gown alterations can vary significantly depending on your dress’s number of layers, lining, under structure/boning, lace, fabric, cut, hem, finish, buttons, zippers, belt, corset, bustle, train. To request a quote for you gown please email a photo or link to your dress, along with your wedding date and a list of your anticipated alterations to mia@mdtailoring.com

I currently accept cash, check, all major credit cards, paypal and venmo for payment. Prior to starting bridal alterations I do require a 50% deposit.

I do offer made to measure gowns. Depending on the cost and style gowns typically start at $10,000 and up- not including the cost of fabric. This will include 3-4 fittings, including one with a muslin prior to cutting the fabric.

Depending on the style of gown you have, a veil that is custom made can add but not distract from the style of your gown. I offer trim sourcing, hand bead work as well as both silk and regular tulle to create the veil of your dreams. I do also have a back stock of veils and accessories at my studio.
